Bring to the surface…
Wismec is here again with another BF (bottom fed) Squonk box. This little gem comes now with a new innovated tank flying close to the surface of what could be an atom collider. Sqounk mods are my go to choice and witnessing the Wismec range from the Luxotic to the Luxotic DF right down to the new Luxotic Surface…be prepared to be flown away
Out the Box
So the new Wismec Squonker… It’s of 4 different colour options Black outer with Basketball, Honeycomb, Linear and Unistar. All are a good option and I’m sure they will attract the market. The kit retails at $60-$70 USD and £49 GBP.
The battery requirement is a single 18650s. I’ve used two sets of batteries fully along with a 3rd cycle total, so 6 in total. The batteries last some time but the performance drops slightly in terms of power.
The mod can reach up to 5-80w which works on VW, V, TC, Curve, and Bypass. The chipset in this kit is great it’s the new Avatar chip, the one being used in most Wismec kits nowadays.
The tank included again is the all new Kestrel which is very nice to look at and compact. It’s says it’s a new RDTA let’s wait and see…Along with cotton and the mesh flat plate coils, which are .25ohm.
The kit includes a USB charger which is standard throughout the vaping world.
The warranty and the usage leaflets were included also on this even though it was a sample.
Two red BF bottles are Included and they are 7.5ml filled to the metal brim. I like these and think they are easy to compress and are well made how long they will last I’m not sure but it they seem good enough for the use.
And then there is the user manuals along with a warranty card and warning the usually legit stuff.

The Build
The Luxotic has a single fire button which is very clicky and seems to be a very robust single button. this mod has a great regulated wattage of 80w which for me is much better why they couldn’t up it to the old luxotic i do not know. The power is constant and works well with the Avatar chipset, which has been upgraded to fire at 0.001s im not sure how this is going to keep the mesh element right.
The mod can take up to a 25mm tank easily going to 26mm but it will be slightly over by .25mm either side.
The build is of great quality and it’s a solid metal device which tops others in the category at present regards to pricing. The magnetic plastic finish battery cover is easy to remove and has a strong magnetic connection to both the battery and the mod itself, but its poorly made I’m not a fan at all. The bottom plate covers the bottle opening, again this is magnetic too, but isn’t finished to the standards as previous designs... The mod requires only one 18650 battery I used Golisi Batteries, awesome... The bottom is built up of a little honeycomb plate which is to direct warmth from the battery and mod, I haven’t yet had any overheating. However, there is some issue with it keep displacing itself if a slight catch on the bottom side.
Building on the deck is simple and less than 2 minutes just to whip the old coil our and replace it. The coil does have a few issues mind, which for me can be a major problem. Using a sugary liquid it does and did build up very quick and the ohms was reading all over. I did try it on another mod no difference. The wicking has to be set right and when I mean set right you have to make sure that you have the cotton is just slightly touching the base of the tank so it isn’t compacted to the floor. i tried this twice and the second one was much better.
The priming takes minutes and can be vaped pretty much soon after. The feed system is built on an aluminium rod and liquid pours into the tank well when the bottle is compressed, but there are a few issues with air locking. As this is a BF mod and an RDTA It caused the bottle to not draw back when decompression.

Pros
- 4 designs
- Variable wattage
- Small and compact
- No leaks due to the bottom fed system
- Good hit
- Battery life
Cons
- The heating element
- Cheap plastic feel to the panel
- Bottom feed cover is poorly finished
- Cannot be dripped due to small opening
- Flavour isn’t the best and this must be down to the mesh heating element
- Not really rebuild able
- Dry hitting quiet frequently
Conclude
So, would I buy this mod? Yeah, of course, it’s sleek, simple and looks good. However, the Kestrel Tank isn’t the best at all and I’m saying this because it’s just isn’t what was set out by Wismec the tank is insufficient in all aspects of the BF system. Now the mod is an all-round goo bit of device, especially with the variable wattage.
Having another tank on the mod would make this much better for instance the Guillotine would match nicely. Having used this for over 3 weeks I have gave it justice in what I think would make this become perfect but the tank just didn’t quite get the usage I wanted.
What I would of liked to see Is JayBo come flying In and put his spin on the design as the first Luxotic was amazing and looked pretty decent in my opinion, maybe next time i could help In design what could be a more attractive and convenient bit of kit…
